A day out on the water in your boat can be relaxing and quite therapeutic. But what happens when you get hungry, and you’re really not in the mood for the sandwiches you packed, or perhaps you already devoured those when you had the munchies?

 

When you’re cruising the waters along South Carolina’s coast or on our inland rivers and lakes, you can dock up and dine at a South Carolina waterfront restaurant. Between the Lowcountry, Grand Strand and mainland – you have many choices where you can tie up for some good ol’ seafood and a nice cold one to drink.

 

Even if seafood is not what your taste buds are calling for, menu selections from the land and sea are available. Vickery’s Bar and Grill in Mt. Pleasant serves down South pork loin, black beans and rice, and a 14 ounce steak with mushrooms topped with Newcastle demi-glaze and served with butter parsley potatoes. Mmm…sounds good doesn’t it? The Boathouse at Breach Inlet on the Isle of Palms offers pecan-crusted chicken with mashed potatoes and raspberry jus.

 

If you’re sailing along the Grand Strand, you’ll love the view from the open-air deck of Crabcatchers on the Waterfront in Little River. Try the grouper special with their special sauce. Guests give the mahi-mahi blackened platter rave reviews at Little River’s Captain Juel’s Hurricane Restaurant. Overlooking Cricket Cove Marina and the Intracoastal Waterway is Baker Street Gill and Grill where music is also on the menu.  

 

The beauty and nature of Barefoot landing combined with great places to eat, makes this area a must see in South Carolina. Greg Norman’s Australian Grill is “the upper crust of down under dining.” The restaurant offers an eclectic menu with wood grilled classics and fine Australian fare. Gather with your family and friends at DockSiders Grille for live outdoor entertainment or enjoy the view of the open kitchen and bar while you wait for your meal.

Sail into Harbourgate Marina in North Myrtle Beach and dock up for the newly renovated Filet’s where you will find steak, seafood and sushi.

Cruise the tidelands of Georgetown and have a bite at Front Street’s River Room Restaurant, Front Street Deli, Goat Island Grill Thomas Café, or La Racca’s Italian Restaurant. If you’re drifting into Georgetown on a Sunday, you’re in luck for “the best Sunday brunch in South Carolina” at Land’s End Restaurant which overlooks Winyah Bay.

 

With more than 12 miles of pristine beach, maritime forests and salt marshes, you’re sure to find great places to dock and dine on Hilton Head Island. Encounter one of the best-known dock and dine experiences at Harbour Town. Here you can dine at the base of the famed candy-striped lighthouse overlooking the 18^th green. Restaurants at Harbour Town include Topside at the Quarterdeck, The Waterfront Café and The Crazy Crab. Located at the South Beach Marina, The Salty Dog Café offers indoor and outdoor dining and entertainment. See the sky light up each Tuesday night during the summer at Shelter Cove Marina where you’ll find Ocean Grille, Bistro 17, Kingfisher and Scott’s Fish Market.

 

Even boaters traveling our inland lakes and rivers will find a great catch when seeking to dine ashore. About six miles from Dreher Island State Park is Buffalo Creek Grill. This Buffalo Creek Marina restaurant in Prosperity, SC is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A stop at Lake Murray Marina during your nautical excursion on beautiful Lake Murray will give you a nice dining option at Rusty Anchor.
