Just off Interstate 95, in Summerton is the Summerton Diner, named one of Gourmet Magazine’s Top 10 All American Diners. Yes, the meat-and-three meal is down home cooking at its best, but the luscious coconut pie is definitely a cut above the rest.

An ideal stop on the South Carolina Heritage Corridor is the Parish House Tea Room in Eutawville, a small town in Orangeburg County. Housed in a circa 1828 home, the Parish House Tea Room serves salads, soups, sandwiches and homemade desserts. Dessert like the Hershey bar pie – a chocolate lover’s taste of heaven.

Peruse beautiful historic downtown Charleston and wind down with buttermilk pie at Hominy Grill. Don’t even try ordering one slice of buttermilk pie for your party of four. It won’t be enough!
