McLeod Farms –  Offering a Variety of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

A trip to the grocery store for fresh fruit is not as adventurous as a trip to McLeod Farms in McBee, SC, where you can pick your own. McLeod Farms has some of the sweetest berries and peaches you’ll ever sink your teeth into.

Life’s a peach at McLeod Farms from May through August when the orchard is loaded with peaches. Besides the sweltering hot temperatures, it’s a sure sign that summer has arrived. McLeod Farms grows over 20 varieties of the low calorie fruit which can be ordered online! Crops are taking root year round at this Chesterfield County farm, making a variety of fruits and vegetables available for your eating pleasure.

It’s harvest time in the fall when pumpkins, winter squash, collards, turnips and corn are ready for you to turn into a great meal. South Carolina’s mild autumn temperatures are the perfect time to come out to the pumpkin patch. Pick a few to carve for fall decorating or make pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. Christmas trees are ready in winter along with black-eyed peas for the traditional New Year’s Day dinner. Collards are still around too. In the spring, you can pick plump red strawberries from a 15-acre strawberry patch. This can certainly put you in the mood for strawberry shortcake. Strawberries are celebrated annually with a festival in May. This year's Strawberry Festival is May 17.

McLeod Farms also offers jarred products at its Roadside Market including: butters, ciders, pickles, dessert peach halves, peach BBQ sauce, and peach salsa. The bakery has peach bread with almond slivers, sweet potato bread with pecan topping and apple, strawberry, banana nut and zucchini bread. Pies, cookies and fudge are freshly made too.

So on your way to a SC State Park 75th anniversary celebration or if you’re on your way to or from Myrtle Beach, stop by McLeod Farms. The Roadside Market is 4.5 miles south of Highway 151.
